Advanced Content Classes
Advanced Content Criterion: 2026-2027 School Year
Rising 6th Graders (Science, Social Studies, and Language Arts)
- Internal teacher recommendation from current teacher in that subject area- please note that no teacher recommendation letters will be accepted from parents/guardians
- 90th percentile (Distinguished Learner) GA Milestones test using the state benchmark cut scores
- Math or Science Milestones will be used for science placement
- Reading Milestones will be used for L&L and I&S placement
- 85th Percentile on the Fall or Winter 2025-2026 MAP Assessment
- Math or Science MAP will be used for science placement
- Reading MAP will be used for L&L and I&S placement
- 88 or higher in the course
- 1150+ Lexile
*Students must meet four of the five criteria for AC Placement
*Students who scored below the 25th percentile in Reading and/or Math on the Spring MAP assessment or if a student did not demonstrate proficiency on the 24-25 GMAS will be placed in the appropriate remedial course rather than world language.
Accelerated Math Criteria
Students must have scored a 230 or higher on the 5th Grade Winter MAP test. This is a district requirement. Sutton does not have autonomy to place students who did not score a 230 or higher in Accelerated Math.
